„Bănățeanca”

„Din multitudinea de costume naționale românești , portul bănățean se distinge prin câteva paradoxuri , explicabile prin poziția geo-strategică a Banatului.

Ca artist și om de cultură , m-a fascinat întotdeauna nu doar graiul de aici plin de consonanțe înmuiate în miere , ci și latura estetică a culturii etnografice , îndeosebi portul.

Cusaturile alese cu grijă pe cămeșă , opregul care încinge mijlocul femeii , revărsând spre poale o ploaie de ciucuri , podoabele ceremoniale confecționate din galbeni și mărgele , dar mai ales ceapsa , acoperitoarea de cap.

S-a spus că acest element de îmbrăcăminte ar avea origini stravechi în portul femeilor dace.

Toate acestea , la un loc , sunt menite să îi confere femeii o ținută mândră care să-i afișeze statutul social , zestrea materiala și să-i pună în valoare frumusețea.

Atras de cultura și etnografia locului , poetul filozof Lucian Blaga spunea pe bună dreptate că stilul etnografic bănățean are ceva din pasiunea și excesul barocului.”

„Woman from Banat”
(Woman from the Banat county -Romania )

Author's description:

„From the multitude of Romanian national costumes,the Banat garb distinguishes itself through a few paradoxes,explainable by the geo-strategic position of Banat.

As an artist and man of culture,I have always been fascinated not only by the national idiom from here,full of consonants soaked in honey,but also by the aesthetic aspect of the ethnographic culture,especially by the costumes.

The carefully chosen stitches on the chemise,the so called "opreg" that surrounds the woman"s waist ,pouring all around a rain of tassels,the ceremonial jewels made of yellow gold and beads,but especially the so called "ceapsa",the head cover.It was said that "ceapsa" ,this item of clothing,would have ancient origins in the Dacian women"s garb.

All of these are meant to give the woman a proud attitude, to display her social status,material dowry and to put in value her beauty.

Attracted by the culture and ethnography of this place,the philosopher poet Lucian Blaga rightly said that Banat"s ethnographic style has something of the passion and the excess of the baroque.”

The realm of Dacians

„Tărâmul Dacilor”

„Dacii au trăit în armonie cu natura, sfințind cu sudoarea frunții lor pământul care îi hrănea. Au știut să prețuiască roadele minții, ridicând la rang de zeitate un spirit înalt întrupat sub numele de Zamolxe.
Transformandu-l în zeu, l-au asociat și cu viața și cu moartea, și cu pământul, dar și cu soarele.
O religie henoteistă centrată pe zeitatea supremă. Dzio sau Gebeleizis, Khronos ori Mitras, au devenit doar ipostaze ale zeitatii supreme.
De aceea, templul sacru al lui Zamolxe, Kogaionon, este de fapt întreg tărâmul dacilor, în același timp sanctuar, centru de spiritualitate și necropolă.

Tabloul pune alaturi planul material cu cel spiritual, lumea vizibilă cu cea invizibilă, ezoterică.
în decorul hibernal cu căpițe de fân și copaci desfrunziți, Cavalerul trac e surprins la vanatoare pe potecile luminate de Bendiș, zeița Lunii. în văzduhul încărcat de nori de zăpadă și răvășit de crivăț, Zamolxe mai veghează înca pământul străbun lăsat nouă moștenire."

„The realm of Dacians”

Author's description:

"The Dacians lived in harmony with nature, blessing the land that fed them with the sweat of their fronts. They knew how to cherish the fruits of the mind, raising to a rank of deity a high spirit embodied under the name of Zamolxe. 

By transforming him into a god,they associated him with life and death,with earth but also with the sun. A henoteist religion centered on the supreme deity. Dzio or Gebeleizis, Khronos or Mitras, became only hypostases of the supreme deity . 

Therefore Zamolxe's sacred temple, Kogaionon, is in fact the entire land of the Dacians, at the same time a sanctuary, a center of spirituality and a necropolis. 

The painting puts together the material level with the spiritual one , the visible world with the invisible, esoteric world. In the winter decor with hay cocks and deserted trees ,the Thracian Knight is surprised hunting on the paths lit by Bendis,the goddess of the Moon . In the atmosphere loaded with snowy clouds ,spread by the cold wind,Zamolxe is still watching the ancient realm left us as a heritage."

„Călăuza celor morți”

Descrierea autorului:

„Călugărița, simbol al călăuzei nedespărțite de semeni, mereu prezentă ,în spiritualitatea colectivă cu firea ei tăcută.
Călugărița este o entitate cu chip ascuns și învăluită în mister, stranie și aparent sinistră.
Enigmatică prin simpla sa prezență, poartă în spate povara renunțării la treptele sociale, mulțumindu-se cu scara simbolică ce leagă cerul de pământ pe care omul poate urca spre divin sau poate cobori spre maleficul pustiu.E scara dreptății și a judecății finale.
Transpusă în artă, cu picioarele mumificate, apariție stilizată între pământ și cer, este un fel de călăuză a morții, cu mâinile metamorfozate în aripi.
Un fel de înger care ne amintește despre "Vanitas Vanitatum et omnia vanitas".

Ea ne spune prin serenitatea ei , că spaima de moarte este absurdă , moartea nefiind decât un nou început din ciclul existenței noastre spirituale.
Simpla prezență a acestor călăuze spre lumea tăcerii învelite în straie negre , este un fel de memento mori.
Toți marii filozofi, din antichitate până în timpurile moderne cât și marii gânditori contemporani, ne revelează adevarul profund că viata doar în corelație cu moartea își dezvăluie prețul frumuseții.

Marele filozof român Emil Cioran spunea :
 "Moartea n-are sens decât la oamenii care au iubit pasional viaţa. Să mori, însă, fără să ai de ce să te separi?! Detașarea este atât negaţia vieţii, cât și a morţii. Cine a învins frica de moarte a învins și viața. Caci ea nu este decât un alt cuvânt pentru această frică.”

„Guides of dead ones”

Author's description:

"The nun,the symbol of the guide ,inseparable from her fellows,always present in the collective spirituality with her silent way of being.
The nun is an entity with hidden face and vested in  mystery,strange and seemingly sinister.
Enigmatic through her simple presence,she carries on her back the burden of renouncing the social ranks,grateful for the symbolic ladder that links the sky with the earth, on which man can climb to the devine or descend to the evil.It"s the ladder of the justice and final judgement.
Transposed in art,with mummified legs,stylized appearance between the earth and the sky,she is a kind of guide to the death with her metamorphosed hands into wings.A kind of angel who reminds us of "Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas"
She tells us ,by her serenity,that the fear of death is absurd,as death is only a new beginning in the cycle of our spiritual existence.

The mere presence of these guides wrapped in black  ,guides to the world of silence is a kind of Memento mori.
All the great philosophers,from antiquity to the modern times,all the great contemporary thinkers,reveal the profound truth that life ,only in correlation with death , reveals the price of its beauty.
The great Romanian philosopher Emil Cioran said:
"Death only makes sense to people who passionately loved life ,but to die without having to separate yourselves.Separation is both a negation of life and death.Defeating the fear of death means defeating the life.For death  is  only another word for fear."

Hovel in Apuseni

„Bordei in Apuseni”

„Expresia „în creierii munților" mi se pare sublimă, întrucât face aluzie la o anumită spiritualitate a locului care atrage și oameni de o anumită spiritualitate.
Călugări sihaștri ori oameni simpli au ales să trăiască în creierii munților dintr-o chemare a înălțimilor ori dintr-o chemare a naturii.
Acolo sus, între sacru și profan, între cer și pământ, e libertate absolută, asumare.
Viața în munți e singurătate ori solitudine, liniște ori zbucium existențial, sărăcie ori simplitate, într-o ecuație cu două necunoscute: omul și natura."

„Hovel in Apuseni”

„The expression "in the brains of the mountains" seems sublime to me because it alludes to a certain spirituality of the place that also attracts people of a certain spirituality.
Hermits or simple people have chosen to live in the brains of the mountains from a call of heights or from a call of nature.
There up, between the sacred and the profane, between heaven and earth, is absolute freedom, assumption. Life in the mountains may be  loneliness or solitude, tranquility or existential struggle, poverty or simplicity, in an equation with two unknowns: Human and nature."
